Preview: Belmont at Indiana State TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (Interstat) â A surging Belmont team will look to continue its dominant start to the season when it visits Indiana State in a Missouri Valley Conference menâs basketball matchup Monday at Hulman Center. The Bruins (12-1) enter with one of the nationâs best records, having won 12 of their last 13 games. Their only loss came against Richmond on Dec. 3. Belmont is coming off an 84-58 road rout of UC Irvine on Dec. 19, where Drew Scharnowski led with 14 points. Guard Nic McClain has been a catalyst for Belmontâs high-powered offense. Over his last six games, McClain is averaging 14.7 points and 6.8 assists per contest, including a 20-point, 4-rebound, 4-assist performance in a win at Middle Tennessee and a near triple-double (12 points, 9 rebounds, 11 assists) at College of Charleston. Indiana State (7-6) seeks consistency after a tough stretch, losing three of its last four. The Sycamores are coming off an 85-65 loss at Illinois State on Dec. 21. They also endured a triple-overtime, 108-99 home loss to Bradley on Dec. 18. Forward Ian Scott has been a bright spot for Indiana State, scoring 20 or more points in two of the last three games. He poured in 24 points in the marathon loss to Bradley and added 20 points against Illinois State. This game opens the conference slate for both teams. Belmontâs strong non-conference resume, built on efficient offense and McClainâs playmaking, will be tested on the road. Indiana State aims to leverage its home court to neutralize Belmontâs momentum and secure a key early Valley victory. Tip-off is set for Monday, Dec. 29, 2025. Following this game, Belmont will host Bradley on Jan. 1, while Indiana State travels to face Northern Iowa the same day.
