PHILADELPHIA (Interstat) — The Temple Owls will look to complete a regular-season sweep and continue their winning momentum when they host the struggling Princeton Tigers in a nonconference men’s basketball matchup Monday at Liacouras Center. Temple (7-5) enters on a three-game winning streak, most recently defeating Davidson 68-63 on the road last Thursday. The Owls’ offense has been potent during this stretch, averaging 88.7 points per game in the wins. Guard Derrian Ford has been a catalyst, averaging 21.7 points over the last three contests. He scored 21 points in Temple’s 79-75 victory at Princeton just under a month ago on Nov. 25. Princeton (3-10) seeks to halt a six-game losing skid, its most recent a 59-56 home loss to Merrimack on Dec. 10. The Tigers have been competitive in several defeats, with five of their 10 losses coming by six points or fewer, including the earlier meeting with Temple. Guard Jackson Hicke has been a consistent bright spot, averaging 17.1 points per game. He scored 22 against the Owls in November and is coming off a 21-point, 5-assist performance against Merrimack. The game represents a final nonconference tune-up for both programs before league play intensifies in the new year. Temple will begin American Athletic Conference action next week, while Princeton opens its Ivy League schedule in early January. For the Tigers, reversing their fortunes will likely require containing Ford and improving late-game execution. Temple aims to leverage its home court and recent offensive rhythm to build confidence ahead of AAC play. The Owls hold the recent head-to-head edge, but the narrow margin of their November win suggests another close contest is probable. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. EST Monday at Liacouras Center.
