Preview: Stetson Hatters at Oklahoma Sooners NORMAN, Okla. (Interstat) — The Oklahoma Sooners look to continue their strong non-conference play when they host the struggling Stetson Hatters in a men’s NCAA Division I basketball game Monday at Lloyd Noble Center. Oklahoma (8-3) enters the contest having won five of its last six games, including an 89-67 victory over Missouri-Kansas City on Dec. 16. The Sooners’ balanced attack is led by guard Xzayvier Brown, who has scored 21 points in each of his last two outings. Brown is averaging 16.2 points over his last five games, providing consistent scoring alongside contributors like Nijel Pack and Derrion Reid. The Sooners have been effective at home, boasting a 5-1 record in Norman this season, with their only loss coming against then-Gonzaga in the season opener. Stetson (4-8) seeks momentum after a season of road struggles. The Hatters snapped a five-game losing streak with a 95-76 home win over Division III Rhodes on Dec. 15, but are 0-7 in true road games, often facing significant scoring deficits. Their most recent road trip included losses at South Carolina (82-51) and Grand Canyon (67-45). The Hatters will rely heavily on forward Ethan Copeland, who erupted for a season-high 29 points in the win over Rhodes. Copeland’s production has been volatile, however, scoring just two points at Grand Canyon after a 20-point performance against Southern Utah in late November. Guard Calvin Sirmans, who recorded a double-double with 11 points and 11 assists against Rhodes, will be key in facilitating the offense against a stout Oklahoma defense. For Stetson, the challenge will be containing Oklahoma’s offensive rhythm while finding scoring consistency away from home. Oklahoma aims to avoid a letdown before closing its non-conference schedule against Mississippi Valley State on Dec. 29 and entering Southeastern Conference play. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. CST Monday at the Lloyd Noble Center.
