TULSA, Okla. (Interstat) — The Texas-Arlington Mavericks look to rebound from a tough road loss when they visit the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles in a nonconference men’s basketball matchup Monday at Mabee Center. UT Arlington (7-4) enters off a 76-60 defeat at Stanford on Dec. 17, which snapped a two-game win streak. The Mavericks have been inconsistent away from home, posting a 3-4 record in road and neutral-site games. Guard Casmir Chavis leads the team following a 14-point, four-assist effort against the Cardinal. He has scored in double figures in three of his last four contests. Oral Roberts (5-9) seeks to end a three-game skid, most recently a 72-53 loss at TCU on Dec. 18. The Golden Eagles have struggled defensively during the streak, allowing an average of 69.3 points per game. They will rely on guard Ty Harper, who has been a bright spot, averaging 18.4 points over his last seven games. He scored 20 points in a narrow 63-62 loss at Missouri State on Dec. 16. The matchup pits UT Arlington’s defense, which has held opponents to 50 and 55 points in two of its last four games, against an Oral Roberts offense that has shown explosiveness, topping 88 points four times this season. The Golden Eagles are 4-3 at home. This game concludes the nonconference slate for both programs. UT Arlington begins Western Athletic Conference play at home against Tarleton State on Dec. 29. Oral Roberts opens Summit League action on the road at North Dakota on Jan. 1. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. EST Monday at the Mabee Center.
