Kansas Set to Host Davidson in Nonconference Finale LAWRENCE, Kan. (Interstat) — The Kansas Jayhawks look to carry momentum into the holiday break when they host the Davidson Wildcats in a nonconference men’s basketball matchup Monday night at Allen Fieldhouse. Kansas (9-3) has won three straight, including an overtime road victory at North Carolina State and a dominant 73-49 win over Towson last Tuesday. The Jayhawks have been led by junior guard Tre White, who averaged 16.0 points, 4.0 assists and 2.0 blocks in his last two outings. Forward Flory Bidunga adds an interior presence, coming off an 18-point, three-block performance against Towson. Davidson (8-3) aims to rebound from a 68-63 home loss to Temple on Thursday that snapped a two-game winning streak. The Wildcats, under longtime coach Bob McKillop, are led by guard Nick Coval. Coval scored 16 points in a win over The Citadel on Dec. 4 and had 10 points against Temple, but was held to just one point in a loss to Saint Mary’s on Dec. 7, highlighting his variable offensive output. The game represents a final tune-up before conference play for both teams. Kansas opens its Big 12 schedule at UCF on Jan. 3, while Davidson begins Atlantic 10 play at home against Duquesne on Dec. 30. Historically, Kansas holds a 3-1 advantage in the series, with the last meeting an 89-71 Jayhawks victory in the 2022 NCAA Tournament. Davidson’s last win in the series came in the 2008 NCAA Tournament Elite Eight. Allen Fieldhouse has long been one of college basketball’s most formidable venues, where the Jayhawks are 7-1 this season. Davidson is 1-2 in true road games, with its lone win coming at Charlotte on Nov. 11. Monday’s contest tips off at 8 p.m. EST and will be televised on ESPN2.
