Georgetown Aims to Continue Hot Streak Against Struggling Coppin State WASHINGTON (Interstat) — The Georgetown Hoyas, riding high after a signature road win, return to Capital One Arena to host the struggling Coppin State Eagles in a nonconference men’s basketball matchup on Monday, Dec. 22, 2025. Georgetown (8-3) enters on a wave of momentum following a 78-69 victory at then-Marquette last Wednesday. The Hoyas have won three of their last four, with their only loss in that stretch coming at North Carolina. The Hoyas are led by standout guard Julius Halaifonua, who is averaging 18.2 points over his last five games. He scored 21 points with four assists in the win at Marquette and had 22 points in an overtime victory over Saint Peter’s on Dec. 13. His backcourt partnership with Jeremiah Williams (15 points, five assists vs. Marquette) and Malik Mack (13 points, five assists) gives Georgetown a dynamic offensive trio. Coppin State (2-12) arrives in the nation’s capital mired in a six-game losing streak, all by double digits and all on the road. The Eagles are coming off an 88-55 loss at Navy on Friday. Their only victories this season came against non-Division I Central Penn and at Rider in late November. The Eagles will look to guard Hussain Williams to provide a spark. He led the team with 13 points in the loss to Navy and scored 19 points in a defeat at Radford on Dec. 14. However, Coppin State has been plagued by defensive woes, allowing an average of 91.2 points during its current six-game skid. This game represents a final tune-up for Georgetown before it opens Big East Conference play at home against Saint John’s on New Year’s Eve. For Coppin State, it is another daunting road test before opening Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play in January. The Hoyas have dominated the all-time series, winning all four previous meetings. The teams last played on Nov. 25, 2019, a 97-73 Georgetown victory. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. EST at Capital One Arena.
