Fordham Aims to Continue Home Success Against New Haven NEW YORK (Interstat) — The Fordham Rams look to protect their home court and extend a three-game winning streak when they host the New Haven Chargers in a non-conference men’s basketball matchup Monday afternoon at Rose Hill Gym. Fordham (8-4) enters the contest riding momentum from a dominant 82-53 victory over Manhattan on Dec. 13, where the Rams showcased a balanced offensive attack. The Rams have won five of their last six games, with their only loss in that span a narrow 70-69 defeat to Holy Cross. A key player for the Rams is forward Rikus Schulte, who is coming off a 21-point, 10-rebound double-double against Manhattan. Over his last three games, Schulte is averaging 15.7 points. He is complemented by guards Christian Henry and DeJour Reaves, who combined for 37 points and 14 assists in the win over the Jaspers. The New Haven Chargers (5-6) seek to rebound from a 64-70 road loss at NJIT on Dec. 10. That contest continued a pattern of close defeats for the Chargers, who also fell by four points at Boston College on Dec. 6. New Haven’s offense leans heavily on guard Jabri Fitzpatrick. He scored a team-high 20 points in the loss to NJIT and is averaging 18 points over his last two games against Division I competition. Support comes from Stefano Faloppa and Najimi George, who each scored in double figures against the Highlanders. This game represents a final non-conference tune-up for both squads before their upcoming schedules intensify. Fordham will open Atlantic 10 play at Dayton on Dec. 31. New Haven, which has faced a challenging early slate including UConn, Seton Hall and Penn State, will visit Vanderbilt on Dec. 29. Historically, Fordham has used its defense to fuel its success at Rose Hill, holding opponents to an average of 54 points during its current three-game home win streak. The Chargers, however, have shown they can score in bunches, having topped 90 points twice this season against lower-division opponents. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. EST Monday at Fordham’s historic Rose Hill Gymnasium.
