STOCKTON, Calif. (Interstat) — The Pacific Tigers will look to rebound from their most lopsided loss of the season when they host the Nicholls State Colonels in a nonconference men’s basketball game Sunday at the A.C. Spanos Center. Pacific (8-4) enters the contest following a 93-57 road defeat at the hands of BYU on Tuesday. The Tigers had won three straight prior to that setback. Nicholls State (3-7) arrives with momentum from a 79-64 home victory over Houston Christian on Wednesday, its second consecutive win. The matchup features a contrast in team trajectories and a compelling duel at guard. Pacific’s Kajus Kublickas, who had 14 points and three assists against BYU, is the engine for the Tigers. He dished out 13 assists in a blowout win over Simpson on Dec. 13, demonstrating his playmaking ability. He will be matched against Nicholls State’s dynamic Jalik Dunkley, who is coming off a 23-point performance in the win over Houston Christian. Dunkley has been a consistent force, averaging a double-double in tough road losses at Tulane and Oklahoma State last month. His scoring punch will be vital for the Colonels, who are just 1-6 away from home this season. For Pacific, this game serves as a final tune-up before opening West Coast Conference play at San Diego on Dec. 28. The Tigers have been strong at home, posting a 5-1 record in Stockton. Nicholls State, a member of the Southland Conference, will look to build a rare winning streak before its own league slate begins next week. The Colonels’ offense has shown flashes, scoring 117 points against Biblical Studies, but has been held under 80 points in all seven of their losses. Sunday’s game will tip off at 5 p.m. PST.
