Undefeated Nebraska Hosts Struggling North Dakota LINCOLN, Neb. (Interstat) — The unbeaten and No. 7-ranked Nebraska Cornhuskers put their perfect record on the line Sunday when they host the North Dakota Fighting Hawks in a nonconference men’s basketball game at Pinnacle Bank Arena. Nebraska (11-0) is one of just eight remaining undefeated teams in NCAA Division I, coming off a statement 83-80 road victory at then-Illinois on Dec. 13. The Cornhuskers’ resume includes wins over ranked opponents Kansas State, New Mexico and Oklahoma, alongside dominant home victories over Wisconsin (90-60) and Creighton (71-50). The Cornhuskers are led by sharpshooting guard Pryce Sandfort, who is averaging 21.4 points over his last five games. He erupted for a career-high 32 points in the win at Illinois. Forward Rienk Mast (14.1 ppg, 8.2 rpg) and guard Jamarques Lawrence (12.3 ppg, 5.1 apg) provide a balanced offensive attack for a team averaging 84.5 points per game. North Dakota (5-9) arrives after snapping a three-game skid with a 90-88 home win over Winthrop on Thursday. The Fighting Hawks have struggled on the road, going 1-5, with losses by 32 points at Hawaii and 32 points at Idaho. Guard Eli King leads North Dakota, coming off a 25-point performance against Winthrop. He averages a team-high 15.1 points but will face a Nebraska defense allowing just 66.5 points per game, ranked 24th nationally. This marks the first meeting between the programs since 2017. Nebraska has won all three previous matchups. For North Dakota, this game represents a final major nonconference test before Summit League play begins Jan. 1. Nebraska concludes its nonconference schedule seeking a 12-0 start before a daunting Big Ten slate that features a Jan. 2 home clash with Michigan State. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m. CST Sunday. The game will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network.
