Preview: North Florida at No. -- Miami (Fla.) CORAL GABLES, Fla. (Interstat) — The Miami Hurricanes, riding high after a dominant start to the season, will look to extend their winning streak when they host the struggling North Florida Ospreys in a non-conference men’s basketball game Sunday at Watsco Center. Miami (10-2) has won five straight since a Nov. 27 loss to BYU, including a 98-81 victory over Florida International on Tuesday. The Hurricanes have been an offensive force, averaging 87.2 points per game during their current win streak. They are led by standout guard Shelton Henderson, who is coming off a 30-point performance against FIU. Over his last five games, Henderson is averaging 16.8 points. North Florida (2-9) enters on a six-game losing skid, most recently falling 113-90 at Charleston Southern on Thursday. The Ospreys have faced a brutal early schedule with road losses at Tennessee, Florida, Gonzaga and Dayton. Their defense has been a persistent issue, allowing an average of 91.7 points during the losing streak. The Ospreys’ primary threat is guard Kamrin Oriol, who has scored in double figures in seven straight games. He poured in a season-high 29 points in the loss to Charleston Southern. However, North Florida has struggled to find consistent support around him. Miami’s balanced attack, which also features Malik Reneau (22 points vs. FIU) and Tru Washington, will pose a significant challenge for a North Florida defense ranked near the bottom nationally in scoring defense. The Hurricanes have won all eight of their home games this season by an average margin of 31.5 points. This game serves as a final tune-up for Miami before opening Atlantic Coast Conference play at home against Pittsburgh on Dec. 30. North Florida will conclude a stretch of eight consecutive road games and will not play at home again until Dec. 28 against Columbia. Tip-off is scheduled for Sunday afternoon. The game will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra.
