Preview: Stony Brook Seawolves at Marist Red Foxes POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (Interstat) — Two teams looking to rebound from rare recent losses will meet Sunday when the Stony Brook Seawolves visit the Marist Red Foxes in a non-conference men’s basketball matchup at McCann Recreation Center. Stony Brook (8-4) enters having dropped two of its last three, including a 71-55 home loss to Albany on Wednesday. The Seawolves will lean on guard Erik Pratt, who scored 20 points in that defeat and has been a consistent offensive force. Pratt is averaging 19.1 points over his last seven games, including a 28-point performance in a win at Loyola Marymount on Nov. 28. Marist (7-3) saw a three-game win streak snapped with an 87-76 road loss at Georgia Tech on Tuesday. The Red Foxes are 4-0 at home this season. They are led by guard Elijah Lewis, who posted 19 points against the Yellow Jackets and is averaging 16.3 points over his last three contests. Lewis had 22 points, eight rebounds and four assists in a win over Manhattan on Dec. 7. The game represents a final non-conference tune-up before both teams dive into their respective league schedules. Stony Brook begins Coastal Athletic Association play next week, while Marist opens Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action after the new year. Defensive execution will be a key point of emphasis for Stony Brook, which allowed Albany to shoot 50% from the field in its last outing. For Marist, protecting its home court and generating offense beyond Lewis will be critical against a Seawolves team that has shown scoring punch, including a 107-point outing against St. Joseph’s last month. The matchup marks the first meeting between the programs since the 2019-20 season. Tip-off is scheduled for Sunday afternoon.
