Preview: Presbyterian at Manhattan Set for Sunday Showdown NEW YORK (Interstat) â Two teams looking to halt losing streaks will meet Sunday when the Presbyterian Blue Hose visit the Manhattan Jaspers in nonconference menâs basketball at Draddy Gymnasium. Presbyterian (6-7) arrives after a 53-74 loss at East Carolina on Wednesday. The Blue Hose have dropped two of their last three. Manhattan (4-8) seeks to end a three-game skid, most recently a 68-75 home loss to Furman on Thursday. The Jaspersâ last win was a 70-66 victory over Fairfield on Dec. 5. The matchup features a contrast in backcourt leaders. Presbyterian will rely on guard Jaylen Peterson, who scored 17 points in 29 minutes against East Carolina. Over his last five games, Peterson is averaging 9.6 points. Manhattanâs offense runs through guard Jaden Winston, who has been a consistent force. He is averaging 17.0 points and 4.8 assists over his last six contests, including a 17-point, 6-assist performance against Furman. Both teams have faced challenging early schedules. Presbyterianâs six wins have come at home, but they are 0-6 on the road, including losses at UCLA, California and South Carolina. Manhattanâs four wins have all come at Draddy Gymnasium, but they carry an 0-7 record away from home, with defeats at Texas A&M, USC and Fordham. This game represents a final nonconference tune-up before league play begins in January. Presbyterian will open Big South Conference action Jan. 3 against USC Upstate. Manhattan begins Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play Jan. 2 against Quinnipiac. Sundayâs contest tips off at 1 p.m. EST.
