Preview: Quinnipiac Bobcats at Hofstra Pride STEWART MANOR, N.Y. (Interstat) — Two of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference’s hottest teams will meet Sunday when the Quinnipiac Bobcats visit the Hofstra Pride at Mack Sports Complex. The Bobcats (9-3) enter on a five-game winning streak, their latest an 85-75 road victory at Monmouth on Wednesday. The Pride (8-4) have won five of their last six, including a signature 70-69 win at Syracuse on Dec. 13. The matchup features a compelling contrast in backcourt stars. Quinnipiac is led by guard Grant Randall, who is averaging 12.7 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. He is coming off a 17-point performance against Monmouth and recorded a double-double (10 points, 10 rebounds) in a win over UMass Lowell on Dec. 13. Hofstra counters with dynamic guard Cruz Davis, who has been on a scoring tear. Davis dropped 36 points and dished seven assists in a win at Pittsburgh on Dec. 7, then followed with 22 points and nine assists in the upset at Syracuse. Over his last five games, Davis is averaging 23.0 points and 5.2 assists. Quinnipiac’s surge has been marked by balanced scoring and stout defense, holding opponents to 68.2 points per game during their streak. Alongside Randall, Amarri Monroe (16 points vs. Monmouth) and Nate Guerengomba (13 points, 5 assists) provide additional firepower. Hofstra’s offense runs through Davis, but the Pride have shown depth. Jaeden Roberts provided 11 points off the bench against Syracuse, and German Plotnikov is a consistent perimeter threat. This non-conference clash serves as a final tune-up before both teams dive into their MAAC schedules in the new year. Quinnipiac will host Marist on Dec. 29, while Hofstra will host Campbell the same day. Sunday’s game tips off at 1 p.m. EST.
