Preview: Oregon Ducks vs. Gonzaga Bulldogs PORTLAND, Ore. (Interstat) — The surging Gonzaga Bulldogs, boasting one of the nation’s premier records, will face a challenging Oregon Ducks squad in a nonconference men’s basketball showdown Sunday at Moda Center. The fifth-ranked Bulldogs (11-1) enter on a five-game winning streak, including dominant victories over UCLA and a 35-point rout of Kentucky on the road. Their lone blemish is a 40-point loss at Michigan on Nov. 26. Oregon (6-5) has shown inconsistency but is coming off a 94-69 win over Portland on Wednesday. The Ducks’ resume includes narrow losses to Southern California and Creighton. The matchup features two of the region’s top forwards. Gonzaga’s Braden Huff is in exceptional form, coming off a 37-point performance against Campbell. Over his last four games, Huff is averaging 25.5 points. Oregon will counter with Kwame Evans, who scored 21 points against Portland and has averaged 17.8 points over his last six contests. While played at the Moda Center in Portland, Gonzaga will be designated the home team. The Bulldogs’ offense has been prolific, scoring 94 or more points in four of their last five games. Oregon’s defense, which allowed 97 points in a loss to San Diego State last month, will be severely tested. Gonzaga’s next game is at Pepperdine on Dec. 28 to open West Coast Conference play. Oregon will host Omaha on Dec. 28 before a tough stretch of Big Ten opponents. Sunday’s game tips off at 4 p.m. PST.
