PROVIDENCE, R.I. (Interstat) ā A surging Seton Hall team riding a six-game winning streak will face a Providence squad looking to rebound from a heartbreaking loss when the Big East rivals meet Friday night at Dunkinā Center. The No. 15-ranked Pirates (10-1) have been one of the nationās early surprises, with their only blemish a two-point loss to Southern California on Nov. 25. They are coming off an emphatic 81-59 victory over Rutgers on Dec. 13, where Adam Clark scored 16 points and dished seven assists. Clark has been the engine for Seton Hall, averaging nearly 12 points and 6.5 assists over his last six games, including a 12-assist performance against Central Connecticut. Providence (7-5) is seeking stability after a roller-coaster start. The Friars fell 113-110 in double-overtime at Butler on Dec. 13, despite a career-high 32 points from Jason Edwards. The junior guard has provided a major offensive spark, scoring 20 or more points in three of his last five contests. Edwardsā scoring punch will be vital against a stout Seton Hall defense that has held eight opponents under 70 points this season. The Friars have shown firepower at home, averaging 90 points in their last three games at Dunkinā Center, but their defense will be tested by a balanced Pirates attack. Alongside Clark, AJ Staton-McCray (18 points vs. Rutgers) and Najai Hines provide consistent scoring. Historically, games between these teams are tightly contested, with Providence holding a narrow edge in the all-time series. The Friars will need to leverage their home court advantage to counter Seton Hallās momentum and superior record. A win for Providence would be a signature resume-builder, while Seton Hall aims to solidify its status as a Big East contender heading into conference play. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. EST. The game will be broadcast on FS1.
