SOUTH DAKOTA STATE SEEKS ROAD WIN AT MILWAUKEE MILWAUKEE (Interstat) β The South Dakota State Jackrabbits look to rebound from a home loss when they visit the Milwaukee Panthers in a nonconference menβs basketball matchup Friday night at Fiserv Forum. South Dakota State (7-6) enters having split its last six games, most recently falling 87-72 to Wyoming on Monday. The Jackrabbits have shown a potent offense at times, scoring 94 or more points in three wins, but have also been held under 70 in four of their six losses. Guard Kalen Garry has been a key catalyst for the Jackrabbits. Over his last five games, he is averaging 13.4 points and 3.4 assists, including a 20-point performance in a rout of Dakota Wesleyan on Dec. 12 and 15 points with seven assists in a road win at Ball State on Dec. 9. Milwaukee (4-6) aims to build momentum after a narrow 70-68 loss to Indiana State on Sunday. The Panthers have struggled against high-major competition but have been competitive at home, with their last outing at Fiserv Forum a 74-72 win over Robert Morris on Dec. 6. A player to watch for the Panthers is forward Danilo Jovanovich, who is coming off a strong 16-point, nine-rebound effort against Indiana State. He scored a season-high 21 points in a road loss at Akron on Nov. 29 and provides a consistent interior presence. The game represents a final nonconference tune-up for both programs before league play intensifies after the holidays. South Dakota State begins Summit League action on Jan. 1, while Milwaukee opens Horizon League play on Dec. 29. The Jackrabbits will need to contain Jovanovich and improve defensively after allowing Wyoming to shoot 50% from the field. Milwaukee must find scoring balance beyond Jovanovich and limit turnovers against a South Dakota State team capable of offensive bursts. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. CST Friday.
