LOS ANGELES (Interstat) — A pair of Lions will clash Friday when North Alabama visits Loyola Marymount in a nonconference men’s basketball game at Gersten Pavilion. North Alabama (5-5) enters on a one-game skid, falling 68-60 at Alabama A&M on Monday. Loyola Marymount (7-4) looks to rebound from a 67-57 home loss to UC San Diego on Tuesday. The matchup features two standout guards. North Alabama’s Canin Jefferson is averaging 12.0 points per game and is coming off a 20-point performance in the loss to Alabama A&M. Over his last five games, the guard has scored in double figures four times, including a 16-point effort in a win at Jacksonville State on Dec. 1. Loyola Marymount will counter with Rodney Brown, who leads the team at 12.1 points per game. Brown scored 19 points in the loss to UC San Diego, his highest output since a 14-point game against Saint Louis on Dec. 2. He has reached double figures in scoring in four of his last five contests. North Alabama has shown resilience on the road this season, securing victories at San Francisco and Jacksonville State. Loyola Marymount has been strong at home, boasting a 5-2 record at Gersten Pavilion, though it has dropped its last two home games. This contest marks the final nonconference tune-up for Loyola Marymount before it hosts Morgan State on Dec. 23 and begins West Coast Conference play later in the month. North Alabama will open ASUN Conference play at home on Jan. 1 against Stetson. Friday’s game tips off at 7 p.m. PST.
