Preview: Bethune-Cookman Wildcats at Missouri Tigers COLUMBIA, Mo. (Interstat) β€” The Missouri Tigers, riding high with a 9-2 record, return to Mizzou Arena to host the struggling Bethune-Cookman Wildcats in a nonconference men’s basketball game Sunday. The Tigers look to rebound from their first home loss of the season, an 85-77 win over Alabama State on Thursday that was closer than expected. Missouri, which had climbed as high as in the AP Top 25 earlier this month, has dropped two of its last three, including road losses at Kansas and Notre Dame. Guard Anthony Robinson has been a catalyst for Missouri. He led the team with 19 points and five assists against Alabama State. Over his last seven games, Robinson is averaging 9.0 points and 4.1 assists. Bethune-Cookman (3-6) enters after snapping a four-game skid with an 80-59 victory over South Carolina State on Dec. 5. The Wildcats have faced a challenging early schedule, with road losses to power-conference foes Indiana, Miami (Fla.), Auburn and Dayton. The Wildcats are led by guard Jakobi Heady, who is coming off a 22-point performance against South Carolina State. Heady has scored 15 or more points in five of his last seven games, including a 20-point effort in a road win at Ohio. He averages a team-high 16.1 points per game. Missouri holds a significant advantage in experience and depth. Forward Mark Mitchell, a Duke transfer, is averaging 12.8 points, and guard Jacob Crews adds 11.5 points per game. The Tigers average 86.5 points per game, while Bethune-Cookman allows an average of 76.8. This marks the first-ever meeting between the programs. For Bethune-Cookman, it is the final tune-up before opening Southwestern Athletic Conference play on Jan. 3. Missouri concludes its nonconference slate before a neutral-site showdown with Illinois in St. Louis on Dec. 22, followed by the start of Southeastern Conference action. Tip-off is set for Sunday afternoon at Mizzou Arena.
