Preview: Wisconsin Badgers at Nebraska Cornhuskers LINCOLN, Neb. (Interstat) â A clash of Big Ten titans unfolds Wednesday night when the red-hot, ninth-ranked Wisconsin Badgers visit the fifth-ranked and undefeated Nebraska Cornhuskers at Pinnacle Bank Arena. Nebraska (9-0) is one of the nationâs remaining unbeaten teams, riding high after a dominant 71-50 victory over in-state rival Creighton last Sunday. The Cornhuskersâ potent offense, averaging 82.2 points per game, is led by forward Rienk Mast. He is averaging 20.3 points over his last three contests, including a 31-point outburst against Winthrop on Nov. 25. Wisconsin (7-2) arrives with momentum of its own, having won four straight, including a 96-76 rout of Marquette last Saturday. The Badgersâ surge has been fueled by the explosive scoring of guard John Blackwell. He is averaging 28.7 points over his last three games, dropping 30 points in both the Marquette win and a Nov. 28 loss to Texas Christian. This matchup pits Nebraskaâs perfect record and home-court advantage against a Wisconsin team that has found its rhythm. The Badgersâ offense has clicked during their win streak, averaging 91.3 points per game in that span. Nebraskaâs defense, however, has been stifling, holding opponents to just 61.2 points per game at home. The game features a compelling individual duel between Mast and Blackwell, both playing at an All-Conference level. Wisconsin will also look to its frontcourt duo of Nolan Winter and Aleksas Bieliauskas, who combined for 23 points and 23 rebounds against Marquette, to counter Mast inside. For Nebraska, maintaining its pristine record means containing Blackwell and weathering what promises to be Wisconsinâs most significant road test to date. A win would solidify the Cornhuskersâ status as a Big Ten frontrunner, while the Badgers aim to announce themselves as legitimate contenders by handing Nebraska its first loss. Wednesdayâs winner gains an early, crucial advantage in the conference standings. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. CST.
