Preview: Liberty Flames at North Carolina State Wolfpack RALEIGH, N.C. (Interstat) — Two teams with identical ambitions of bolstering their postseason resumes will meet Wednesday when the Liberty Flames visit the North Carolina State Wolfpack in a nonconference men’s basketball game at Lenovo Center. Both teams enter with 6-2 records, though their paths have differed. Liberty, coming off a dominant 92-50 win over Coppin State on Saturday, has feasted on a lighter schedule but dropped competitive games to Bradley and Towson during a multi-team event in late November. The Flames average 82.1 points per game. The Wolfpack (6-3) have faced a tougher slate, with losses to Auburn, Texas and Seton Hall. They are looking to build momentum after a 75-63 victory over UNC Asheville, also on Saturday. North Carolina State averages 87.2 points. The matchup features two of the nation’s most versatile forwards. Liberty’s Zach Cleveland is a unique stat-sheet filler, coming off a 13-assist, 4-block performance against Coppin State. Over his last five games, the 6-foot-7 junior is averaging 9.6 points, 8.6 rebounds, 9.2 assists and 1.2 blocks. He will be matched against North Carolina State’s Ven-Allen Lubin, a 6-foot-8 forward who provides interior punch. Lubin is averaging a double-double over his last four contests (18.5 points, 10.3 rebounds), including a 23-point, 12-rebound effort against UNC Asheville. Liberty’s offense runs through Cleveland’s facilitation, with support from JJ Harper and Josh Smith, who each scored 16 points in the last outing. The Flames will test a Wolfpack defense allowing 75.2 points per game. North Carolina State counters with a more balanced attack. Alongside Lubin, guard Quadir Copeland dished out eight assists in the last game, and forward Matt Able provides defensive energy. This game serves as a final tune-up for both before significant tests. North Carolina State hosts Kansas on Saturday, while Liberty begins a stretch against Dayton and conference foes after this contest. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST Wednesday. The game will be broadcast on the ACC Network.
