WASHINGTON (Interstat) ā A surging George Washington team will look to extend its strong start when it hosts struggling Delaware in a nonconference menās basketball game Wednesday night at the Charles E. Smith Center. The Revolutionaries (8-2) have won four of their last five, including a 99-86 victory over William & Mary on Saturday. They are averaging 90.8 points per game, fueled by efficient offense and depth. A key contributor off the bench has been Jean Aranguren, who scored 20 points in just 19 minutes in the last outing. He is averaging 12.3 points over his last three games. Delaware (2-6) aims to halt a two-game skid after a damaging 72-75 overtime loss at in-state foe Delaware State. The Blue Hens have struggled to find consistent form, with their two wins coming at home against Saint Peterās and UNC Greensboro. The matchup features a contrast in offensive firepower. George Washington has scored at least 84 points in eight of its 10 games. Delaware, meanwhile, has been held under 73 points in five of its eight contests and is allowing opponents to average 76.6 points. A primary focus for Delaware will be point guard Christian Bliss, who leads the team in usage. He is coming off a 45-minute performance where he posted 16 points, eight rebounds and four assists. For the Blue Hens to pull an upset, they will need a major scoring night from Bliss and support from Justyn Fernandez, who had a team-high 23 points in the overtime loss. George Washingtonās balance presents a challenge. Alongside Arangurenās spark, forwards Rafael Castro and Tyrone Marshall are coming off productive games, combining for 33 points against William & Mary. This is the final tune-up for both before weekend games. Delaware hosts Cal State Northridge on Saturday, while George Washington faces Florida in a neutral-site game in Sunrise, Florida, the same day. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST Wednesday.
