Preview: Fresno State Bulldogs at Cal State Northridge Matadors LOS ANGELES (Interstat) ā The Fresno State Bulldogs look to rebound from a road blowout when they visit the Cal State Northridge Matadors in a nonconference menās basketball matchup Wednesday night at the Matadome. Fresno State (6-4) enters having dropped two straight, including an 82-58 loss at Arkansas on Saturday. The Bulldogs had won four consecutive games prior to the skid. Cal State Northridge (4-5) also seeks to bounce back from a defeat, falling 85-71 at UC Irvine on Saturday. The Bulldogs will lean on forward Wilson Jacques, who is coming off a dominant double-double performance despite the loss at Arkansas. Jacques logged 31 minutes, scoring 12 points and grabbing 14 rebounds to go with three assists and a block. Over his last five games, he is averaging 8.0 points and 5.6 rebounds. The Matadors counter with guard Josiah Davis, who recorded a double-double of his own against UC Irvine with 14 points and 10 assists. Davis has been a consistent facilitator, averaging 8.4 assists over his last five contests. In a win over Cal State Bakersfield on Dec. 4, he posted 15 points and eight assists. Fresno Stateās offense has shown potency, averaging 75.2 points per game, but struggled mightily against Arkansasās defense. The Bulldogs will test a Northridge defense allowing 78.2 points per game. The Matadorsā offense runs through Davis, but they have been prone to cold shooting, as evidenced by a 50-point outing in a loss to Idaho State on Nov. 28. This is the final tune-up before a significant break for both teams. Fresno State does not play again until a road game at UNLV on Dec. 20. Cal State Northridge travels to Delaware on Dec. 13. Wednesdayās game tips off at 7 p.m. PST.
