BOSTON (Interstat) — The struggling Maine Black Bears will look for their first win of the season when they visit the Boston University Terriers in a nonconference men’s basketball matchup Wednesday night at Agganis Arena. Maine (0-10) enters on a 10-game skid to open the season, most recently falling 93-61 at Miami (Ohio) on Saturday. The Black Bears have not played a home game since Nov. 30. Boston University (4-6) is looking to rebound from an 88-82 overtime road loss to New Hampshire on Saturday. The Terriers have shown flashes, including a narrow 75-74 win over Harvard and a 104-57 rout of Division III VTSU-Johnson last week. A key matchup will feature two of the region’s top scorers. Maine will lean on guard Keelan Steele, who is coming off a 14-point performance at Miami (Ohio) and has scored in double figures in five of his last seven games. For the Terriers, guard Michael McNair has been a dynamic offensive force, averaging 18.3 points over his last six contests. He poured in a season-high 28 points in a narrow loss at Penn State on Nov. 25 and logged 41 minutes in the overtime loss to New Hampshire. The Black Bears have struggled offensively, failing to reach 65 points in any game this season. Beyond Steele, consistent secondary scoring has been elusive. Caleb Crawford and TJ Biel provided modest contributions in the latest defeat. Boston University has been more potent, averaging 76.2 points per game. McNair’s backcourt mate, Sam Hughes, is coming off a 15-point effort, and Azmar Abdullah adds another perimeter threat. This game marks the final nonconference tune-up for both teams before upcoming stretches. Maine opens America East play at UMBC on Jan. 8, 2026. Boston University begins Patriot League action at home against American on Jan. 3, 2026. Wednesday’s contest tips off at 7 p.m. EST.
