The Governors have shown a potent offense, averaging 78.6 points per game, but have struggled defensively in their losses. The Governors are led by guard Collin Parker, who is coming off a career-high 29-point, six-assist performance against Kent State. Over his last five games, Parker is averaging 22.6 points, demonstrating his role as the team’s primary scorer. UT Rio Grande Valley (2-5) looks to snap a four-game skid after falling 73-60 at Stephen F. Austin on Wednesday. The Vaqueros have faced a challenging early schedule, with four of their five losses coming on the road. Their offense has been inconsistent, averaging 78.1 points overall but just 66.3 points during their current losing streak. A key player for the Vaqueros is guard Jaylen Washington, who led the team with 15 points in the loss to Stephen F. Austin. He will need to provide scoring support against an Austin Peay backcourt that features Parker and Zyree Collins, who dished out nine assists against Kent State. The game pits Austin Peay’s offense against a UTRGV defense allowing 78.1 points per game. The Governors’ ability to control the tempo and find Parker in rhythm will be critical.
