Both squads enter the nonconference matchup with 4-5 records, seeking a winning mark before a final stretch of pre-holiday games. Central Arkansas is coming off its most dominant performance of the season, an 85-47 rout of Arkansas-Little Rock on Wednesday. The Bears have shown a Jekyll-and-Hyde tendency, averaging 89 points in their four wins but just 61 in their five losses. The Bears are led by guard Camren Hunter, who is averaging 17.1 points per game. He has been consistently productive, scoring 19 points in three of his last four outings, including in Wednesday’s win. Support comes from Ty Robinson, who dished out six assists against Little Rock. Texas A&M-Commerce last played on Nov. 25, securing an 84-67 road win at Army. The Lions have won three of their last four, with the lone loss in that stretch a narrow seven-point defeat at Rice. A key catalyst for the Lions is forward Damian Garcia. He erupted for 20 points in just 20 minutes against Army and is averaging 18.3 points over his last three contests. His efficiency provides a critical interior complement to guards Ronnie Harrison and Gianni Hunt, who combined for 22 points and 11 assists in the Army victory. The Lions have been strong at home, winning both games at the Field House by an average margin of 55 points, though those contests came against non-Division I opponents. For Central Arkansas, this begins a two-game Texas road swing before hosting Vanderbilt next weekend.
