Preview: Creighton at Nebraska Set for Intrastate Showdown LINCOLN, Neb. (Interstat) — An undefeated Nebraska squad looks to solidify its top-10 ranking and in-state bragging rights Sunday when it hosts rival Creighton at Pinnacle Bank Arena. The eighth-ranked Cornhuskers (8-0) have been one of the nation’s early surprises, powered by a high-octane offense averaging 86.4 points per game. They face their toughest test to date against the 21st-ranked Bluejays (5-3), who seek a resume-defining road victory. Nebraska’s perfect start includes notable neutral-site wins over Oklahoma and Kansas State. Forward Pryce Sandfort has been instrumental, averaging 18.4 points and 4.4 rebounds. He is coming off a 20-point, 9-rebound performance in a 72-63 win over South Carolina Upstate on Nov. 29. “Every game is a new challenge, but this one has a little extra for everyone in the state,“ Nebraska coach Fred Hoiberg said. “We respect what they do. We have to defend at a high level.“ Creighton arrives after a 96-76 home win over Nicholls State on Tuesday but has faced adversity, including double-digit road losses at Gonzaga, Baylor and Iowa State. The Bluejays are led by guard Nik Graves, who averages 10.6 points and 4.4 assists. Graves posted 11 points and seven assists in the win over Nicholls State. “We’ve been tested early,“ Creighton coach Greg McDermott said. “Going into that environment against a team playing that well, we’ll need to be sharp for 40 minutes. It’s about managing momentum.“ The series has been tightly contested, with Nebraska winning last year’s meeting 89-60 in Omaha. The Huskers’ hot shooting — 51.2% from the field and 40.4% from 3-point range — will clash with a Creighton defense allowing just 68.1 points per game. A sold-out, raucous crowd is expected for the 5 p.m. CST tipoff on Sunday, Dec. 7. The game will be televised on FS1. Nebraska’s next game is at home against Wisconsin on Wednesday. Creighton hosts Kansas State next Saturday.
