Preview: Fairfield Stags at Merrimack Warriors NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. (Interstat) — The Fairfield Stags look to continue their winning momentum when they visit the Merrimack Warriors in a non-conference men’s basketball game Sunday at Volpe Athletic Center. Fairfield (5-3) enters on a two-game win streak, most recently defeating New Hampshire 72-68 on Nov. 30. The Stags have been led by guard Braden Sparks, who scored 22 points in that victory. Over his last eight games, Sparks is averaging 15.8 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.6 assists, including a 20-point performance in a loss to Seton Hall. Merrimack (4-6) snapped a three-game skid with a 68-66 home win over Rider on Thursday. Guard Andres Marrero keyed that victory with a season-high 23 points. He has scored in double figures in five of his last seven contests, providing a consistent offensive spark for the Warriors. The matchup, organized by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, pits Fairfield’s more efficient offense against a Merrimack team seeking consistency. The Stags average 75.6 points per game but are coming off a 106-77 loss to Columbia, highlighting defensive vulnerabilities. Merrimack averages just 65.8 points and struggled offensively in road losses to Florida, Penn and Hofstra during its recent trip. For Fairfield, forward Brandon Benjamin is coming off a double-double (16 points, 10 rebounds) against New Hampshire, while Declan Wucherpfennig added 12 points and 14 rebounds. Merrimack will counter with Kevair Kennedy, who scored 19 points in the win over Rider, and Tye Dorset (15 points). This is the first meeting between the programs since the 2021-22 season. Following this game, Fairfield hosts Monmouth on Dec. 14. Merrimack travels to face Princeton on Dec. 10. Tip-off is scheduled for [TIME] EST on Sunday, Dec. 7, 2025.
