POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (Interstat) — Elijah Lewis scored 22 points to lead Marist to an 80-68 men’s basketball victory over Manhattan on Sunday at McCann Recreation Center. The Red Foxes improved to 6-2 overall by controlling the interior, outrebounding the Jaspers 48-37 and grabbing 13 offensive boards. Marist shot 43.1% from the floor while Manhattan managed 37.9%. Lewis added eight rebounds and four assists for Marist. Jaden Winston led Manhattan (4-6) with 19 points. The Jaspers’ Marko Ljubicic contributed 12 points, nine rebounds and two blocks. Marist, which led by eight at halftime, maintained its advantage despite committing 12 turnovers. Manhattan’s 14 turnovers offset its eight steals. Marist next plays at Bryant on Saturday. Manhattan visits Fordham the same day.

(Interstat) — The Manhattan Jaspers will look to carry the momentum from a tight conference win into a challenging road test against the surging Marist Red Foxes in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference men’s basketball game Sunday at McCann Recreation Center. Manhattan (4-5) snapped a three-game skid with a 70-66 home victory over Fairfield on Friday. The Jaspers have shown resilience in close games, with two of their last three losses coming in overtime, including a 103-101 thriller against Wagner and a 81-78 defeat at Army. The Jaspers will lean on guard Jaden Winston, who is averaging 18.0 points over his last three games. He scored 18 points and dished six assists in the win over Fairfield. His backcourt mate, Devin Dinkins, added 11 points, while forward Fraser Roxburgh contributed 14 points and two blocks. Marist (5-2) enters on a three-game winning streak, most recently a 64-56 defensive victory over Mount Saint Mary’s. The Red Foxes have been strong at home, boasting a 4-0 record in Poughkeepsie this season. Guard Rhyjon Blackwell has been a consistent scorer for Marist, reaching double figures in five straight games. He led the team with 16 points against Mount Saint Mary’s. The Red Foxes have held opponents to an average of 58.3 points during their current win streak. This matchup pits Manhattan’s high-octane offense, which has scored 100-plus points once this season, against a stout Marist defense that has not allowed more than 65 points in any of its wins. The Jaspers are 1-4 on the road, while the Red Foxes seek to protect their home court advantage early in the MAAC schedule. Following this game, Manhattan travels to face Fordham on Dec. 13. Marist will hit the road for a game at Bryant on the same date.
