Preview
Preview: Southern Indiana at Indiana State TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (Interstat) — Indiana State looks to build on its highest-scoring output of the season when it hosts intrastate foe Southern Indiana on Sunday at Hulman Center. The Sycamores (5-4) are coming off a 99-57 rout of non-Division I Eureka on Tuesday, where guard Camp Wagner scored 20 points in just 22 minutes. Wagner, averaging 15.2 points per game, has been a consistent offensive force, scoring in double figures in seven of nine contests this season. They will face a Southern Indiana squad (3-5) that snapped a two-game skid with a dominant 93-56 win over Kentucky State last Saturday. The Screaming Eagles’ offense was fueled by a balanced attack, with Kaden Brown (20 points), Ismail Habib (17 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists) and Ola Ajiboye (10 points, 8 rebounds, 5 blocks) all posting strong lines. Ajiboye, a versatile forward, has emerged as a defensive anchor for Southern Indiana. Over his last four games, he has recorded 16 blocked shots, including two games with five blocks each. His ability to protect the rim will be tested by a Sycamores team that has shown offensive bursts. Indiana State has experienced mixed results against a tougher schedule, including a blowout loss at then-Duke and narrow defeats to Louisiana Tech and Alcorn State. Southern Indiana’s wins have come against lower-tier competition, with losses to Butler, South Dakota and Illinois-Chicago. This marks the first meeting between the programs since Southern Indiana transitioned to Division I. For Indiana State, it is the final tune-up before a stretch of five consecutive games against major conference or strong mid-major opponents, beginning next Sunday at Milwaukee. Southern Indiana begins a three-game homestand after this contest, facing East-West University on Dec. 15. The game tips off at 2 p.m. EST Sunday.
