SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Interstat) — The Elon Phoenix look to snap a two-game skid when they visit the Wofford Terriers in a nonconference men’s basketball game Saturday at Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium. Elon (4-4) is coming off a 97-88 home loss to Furman on Wednesday, despite 25 points from Chandler Cuthrell and 21 from Randall Pettus. The Phoenix have shown offensive potency, scoring 88 or more points in four games, but have allowed an average of 94 points in their two consecutive losses. Wofford (6-3) edged Presbyterian 63-56 on Wednesday, led by 16 points apiece from Kahmare Holmes and Nils Machowski. The Terriers have won four of their last five, with the lone loss in that stretch coming on the road at Northern Kentucky. The game features a contrast in momentum, with the .500 Phoenix seeking consistency and the Terriers aiming to protect a strong early-season record on their home floor. Elon’s guard duo of Cuthrell and Ja’Juan Carr, who had 12 points and six assists against Furman, will challenge Wofford’s defense. Following this game, Elon hosts Northern Illinois on Dec. 13. Wofford travels to face Gardner-Webb on Dec. 15.
