SALT LAKE CITY (Interstat) — The California Baptist Lancers will look to rebound from their first road loss when they visit the Utah Utes in a nonconference men’s basketball game Saturday at the Jon M. Huntsman Center. California Baptist (7-2) saw a five-game winning streak snapped with a 66-44 defeat at BYU on Wednesday. Martel Williams led the Lancers with seven points and five assists in that contest. Prior to the loss, the Lancers had won at Oregon State and played Colorado close on the road. Utah (6-3) is also coming off a road loss, falling 79-72 at California on Tuesday. Keanu Dawes, Terrence Brown and Seydou Traore each scored 14 or more points for the Utes, who had a two-game win streak halted. Utah’s resume includes a notable road victory at Mississippi last month. Both teams enter with winning records, though each seeks to regain momentum before entering their respective conference schedules. The Lancers, who are 2-2 away from home, will face a Utah team that is 4-1 at the Huntsman Center this season. The game tips off at 7 p.m. MST on Saturday, Dec. 6. Utah travels to face Mississippi State next Saturday, while California Baptist visits Eastern Washington on Dec. 12.
