Preview: Montana Grizzlies at North Dakota Fighting Hawks GRAND FORKS, N.D. (Interstat) — Two men’s NCAA Division I teams seeking to halt losing streaks will meet Saturday when the Montana Grizzlies visit the North Dakota Fighting Hawks at Engelstad Arena. Montana (4-5) enters on a four-game skid following a 72-81 home loss to North Dakota State on Wednesday. North Dakota (3-7) has dropped its last two contests, including a 58-90 defeat at Idaho on Wednesday. The game will feature standout guards on both sides. Montana’s offense runs through Money Williams, a dynamic scorer and playmaker. Over his last seven games, Williams is averaging 21.7 points and 6.6 assists, including a 31-point effort against Cal Poly and a 15-assist performance against Oakland. North Dakota will counter with Eli King, who has been inconsistent but capable of strong outings. King scored 18 points in a win at Western Illinois on Nov. 23 but was held to 11 points at Idaho and just two points in a loss at Hawaii. Both teams have struggled defensively during their recent slides. Montana has allowed an average of 82.5 points during its four-game losing streak. North Dakota’s struggles are more pronounced, having surrendered 90 or more points in three of its last four losses. The Grizzlies’ last victory came on Nov. 14 against Cal Poly. Their schedule has been challenging, with road losses to Stanford, UNLV and Texas A&M. The Fighting Hawks’ three wins have come against non-Division I Mayville State, UC Riverside and Western Illinois. This contest represents a chance for either team to build momentum before a final stretch of non-conference play. Montana will host Salish-Kootenai on Dec. 10, while North Dakota is set to host Crown College on the same date. Saturday’s matchup tips off at 1 p.m. CST in Grand Forks.
