LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Interstat) — A surging Arkansas State men’s basketball team will look to extend its winning streak when it visits struggling in-state foe Arkansas-Little Rock on Saturday. The Red Wolves (6-3) have won three straight, including an 83-63 home victory over Texas-Arlington on Tuesday. Jaxon Ellingsworth scored 18 points and Jalen Hampton added 19 in that win. Arkansas State’s offense has averaged 80.3 points during the streak. The Trojans (2-6) are heading in the opposite direction, coming off an 85-47 road loss to Central Arkansas on Wednesday. Cameron Wallace led the team with 19 points in the defeat. Arkansas-Little Rock has lost five of its last six games and has struggled to score, failing to reach 70 points in seven of eight contests this season. The matchup at the Jack Stephens Center pits one of the state’s more efficient offenses against a Trojan defense allowing an average of 78.6 points per game. Arkansas State’s Chandler Jackson, who dished out seven assists last game, will orchestrate the attack. Saturday’s game is a final non-conference tune-up for both programs before each embarks on its league schedule in January.
