NEW YORK (Interstat) — Mississippi looks to snap a two-game skid when it visits Saint John’s in a nonconference men’s basketball matchup Saturday at Carnesecca Arena. The Rebels (5-3) have dropped close decisions to Iowa and Utah before falling 75-66 at home to Miami (Fla.) on Tuesday. Patton Pinkins and Travis Perry each scored 11 points in the loss. The Red Storm (4-3) are coming off an 85-74 loss at Auburn on Nov. 26. Saint John’s had a standout performance from Zuby Ejiofor, who had 24 points in that game, and owns a strong home win over Baylor this season. Mississippi has yet to win a true road game this season, while Saint John’s is 3-1 at home. The Rebels’ offense, which averages 76.6 points per game, will be tested by a Red Storm team allowing just 68.7 points per contest at Carnesecca Arena. The game marks the start of a challenging stretch for both teams before conference play begins next month.
