COLUMBIA, S.C. (Interstat) — The South Carolina Gamecocks look to rebound from an overtime loss when they host the struggling Stetson Hatters in a nonconference men’s basketball game Saturday at Colonial Life Arena. South Carolina (5-3) fell 86-83 in overtime to Virginia Tech on Tuesday despite 18 points from Meechie Johnson. The Gamecocks have alternated wins and losses over their past five games. Stetson (3-7) enters on a three-game skid, most recently a 67-45 road loss at Grand Canyon on Tuesday. Collin Kuhl led the Hatters with 13 points in that defeat. The team has struggled offensively, failing to reach 70 points in seven of its 10 games this season. The Hatters’ three wins have come at home against lower-division Fort Lauderdale and Howard, and against VMI. They are 0-6 in true road games, losing by an average of 20.2 points. This is the first meeting between the programs. Following this game, South Carolina will host The Citadel on Dec. 13. Stetson’s next game is at home against Division III Rhodes College on Dec. 15.
