CORVALLIS, Ore. (Interstat) — Two teams seeking consistency will meet when Southern Utah visits Oregon State in a nonconference men’s basketball game Saturday at Gill Coliseum. Both teams enter with 4-win records, though the Thunderbirds (4-6) have played one more game than the Beavers (4-5). Each is coming off a decisive home victory earlier this week. Southern Utah routed West Coast Baptist 124-59 on Monday, led by Dylan Jones’ 26 points. The Thunderbirds, however, are 1-5 in true road games this season, with the lone win a two-point victory at Stetson. Oregon State beat Vermont 80-58 on Wednesday, getting 18 points from Josiah Lake and 15 from Dez White. The Beavers have struggled to close out games, with three of their five losses coming by four points or fewer. The matchup pits Southern Utah’s high-octane offense, which has topped 100 points three times, against an Oregon State team that has held three opponents under 70 points this season. Saturday’s game offers each squad a chance to build momentum before entering the bulk of their respective schedules.
