Preview: Bellarmine Knights at Murray State Racers MURRAY, Ky. (Interstat) — The Murray State Racers, riding a three-game winning streak, will look to continue their momentum when they host the Bellarmine Knights in a non-conference men’s basketball matchup Saturday at CFSB Center. The Racers (6-3) are coming off a dominant 84-52 victory over Morehead State on Tuesday, where their defense held the Eagles to 30.2% shooting. Murray State has found its rhythm after a two-game skid in late November, averaging 89.7 points during its current win streak. A key factor for the Racers is forward Fredrick King. The junior is coming off a 12-point performance against Morehead State and had a monumental 24-point, 10-rebound, five-block outing in a win over Nicholls State on Nov. 15. His presence in the paint will be central against a Bellarmine squad that prefers a deliberate, motion-offense attack. The visiting Knights (4-4) have alternated wins and losses over their past six games. They are fresh from a 99-60 rout of non-Division I Midway on Wednesday. Guard Michael Wilson led the way with 20 points in just 18 minutes off the bench, continuing a stretch of strong play. Wilson has scored in double figures in five of his last seven games, including a 19-point effort in a season-opening loss at Kansas State. Bellarmine’s season has been marked by stark contrasts. The Knights own comfortable wins over Houston Christian and The Citadel but have struggled against high-major opponents, falling by an average of 24.3 points in losses to Georgia, Kansas State and Notre Dame. Murray State holds a distinct advantage in rest, having last played on Tuesday, while Bellarmine will be playing its second game in three days. The Racers also boast a more potent offense, scoring 85.2 points per game compared to Bellarmine’s 79.1. This game serves as a final tune-up before both teams enter extended breaks for final exams. Murray State will travel to face Akron in Henderson, Nevada, next Saturday, while Bellarmine hosts Northern Kentucky on Dec. 13. Tipoff is set for Saturday afternoon in Murray.
