HARRISONBURG, Va. (Interstat) — The James Madison Dukes look to continue their home-court advantage when they host the Norfolk State Spartans in a nonconference men’s basketball game on Saturday, Dec. 6. James Madison (6-4) is 4-1 at the JMU Convocation Center this season, coming off a 67-62 home win over North Carolina Central on Wednesday. Cliff Davis led the way with 18 points, while Justin McBride added 16 points and three blocks. Norfolk State (4-5) enters following a challenging 98-61 road loss at No. 1-ranked Arizona on Nov. 29. Anthony McComb scored a team-high 19 points in that defeat. The Spartans have been inconsistent, with blowout wins over non-Division I opponents but a 1-5 record against Division I competition, including narrow losses to Old Dominion and William & Mary. The Dukes’ offense will test a Spartan defense that allowed 98 points to Arizona. JMU has scored 80 or more points in four games this season. Norfolk State will rely on McComb’s scoring and seek more production from its frontcourt to combat JMU’s interior presence, highlighted by McBride. This is the final nonconference home game for James Madison before a road stretch. Norfolk State continues a difficult road swing, facing Baylor next Wednesday. Tip-off is set for Saturday at the JMU Convocation Center.
