LEIPSIC, Del. (Interstat) — Two struggling in-state men’s basketball programs will meet Saturday when Delaware visits Delaware State at Memorial Hall. The Delaware Blue Hens (2-5) enter on a three-game skid, including an 89-66 home loss to Iona on Monday. Macon Emory scored 18 points in that defeat, while Christian Bliss added 13 points and five assists. Delaware’s two wins came against UNC Greensboro and Saint Peter’s. The Delaware State Hornets (2-7) have lost four straight, most recently a 66-59 defeat to Navy on Wednesday. Corey Perkins posted a double-double with 12 points and 10 assists in that contest. The Hornets’ victories are against Division III Kean and Cheyney. Both teams have faced offensive challenges this season. The game represents a chance for either to build momentum before continuing difficult non-conference schedules. Delaware leads the all-time series between the programs. The intrastate matchup tips off at 2 p.m. EST on Saturday, Dec. 6. Following this game, Delaware will travel to face George Washington on Dec. 10. Delaware State’s next contest is at Longwood on Dec. 13.
