Preview: Unbeaten Buffalo Hosts Saint Bonaventure in Non-Conference Showdown ALBANY, N.Y. (Interstat) — Two of the Northeast’s hottest teams will collide Saturday when the unbeaten Buffalo Bulls host the Saint Bonaventure Bonnies in a non-conference men’s basketball matchup at Alumni Arena. The Bulls (8-0), one of the remaining undefeated teams in NCAA Division I, look to protect their perfect record. The Bonnies (8-1), whose only loss came at then-North Carolina, aim to hand Buffalo its first blemish. Buffalo has been powered by guard Daniel Freitag, who is averaging 21.9 points per game. He is coming off a 21-point performance in a 71-53 road win at Canisius on Nov. 29 and scored a season-high 33 points in a 94-90 win over Vermont on Nov. 18. Saint Bonaventure counters with forward Joseph Grahovac, a versatile defender and scorer. He posted 15 points and four blocks in just 30 minutes in the Bonnies’ most recent outing, an 83-43 rout of Bloomsburg on Wednesday. Darryl Simmons added a season-high 19 points in that win. The Bonnies’ lone defeat was an 85-70 decision at North Carolina on Nov. 25. Since then, they have won three straight, including road victories at East Carolina and Florida Atlantic. Buffalo’s schedule has featured a series of tight road tests, with narrow wins at Bucknell (73-71) and Virginia Military Institute (78-70) highlighting its resilience. This game represents a final major non-conference test for both programs before league play intensifies. Saint Bonaventure begins Atlantic 10 competition in late December, while Buffalo opens Mid-American Conference play in early January. The Bulls have won the last two meetings in the series, including a 88-77 victory in Olean last season. Saint Bonaventure last won at Alumni Arena in 2019. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST on Saturday, Dec. 6.
