The Falcons (6-2) enter on a high note after an impressive 82-66 road victory over Kansas State on Monday. Senior guard Sam Towns powered that win with a season-high 27 points, continuing a standout stretch. Over his last five games, Towns is averaging 16.8 points and 7.6 rebounds, including an 18-rebound performance at VMI on Nov. 26. Utah Valley (5-3) looks to bounce back from a 77-66 loss at San Diego State on Wednesday. The Wolverines have shown a potent offense, averaging 84.6 points in their five wins, but have struggled defensively in their three defeats, allowing an average of 84.3 points. The matchup features a compelling backcourt duel between Towns and Utah Valley’s Jackson Holcombe. The Wolverines’ guard is a dynamic all-around threat, coming off a 17-point, 5-assist effort against the Aztecs. Holcombe has scored in double figures in six of eight games this season, including a 21-point outing in a win over Samford. Bowling Green’s strength has been its balanced attack, with Javon Ruffin and Javontae Campbell each adding 17 points in the win at Kansas State. The Falcons have been dominant at home, winning all four contests at the Stroh Center by an average margin of 38.8 points. Utah Valley, which has played six of its first eight games on the road, will rely on its experience in hostile environments. Alongside Holcombe, contributors like Trevan Leonhardt and Tyler Hendricks, who combined for 28 points against San Diego State, will be key. The game represents a final major nonconference test for both sides before each turns its focus to upcoming league play. For Bowling Green, it’s a chance to solidify its resume with a second power-conference caliber win in a week. For Utah Valley, it’s an opportunity to secure a quality road victory against a hot opponent from the Mid-American Conference. Tip-off is scheduled for Saturday afternoon. Bowling Green hosts Aquinas College on Sunday, while Utah Valley returns home to face Idaho State on Dec. 10.
