NEWTON, Mass. (Interstat) — Two teams seeking momentum will meet Saturday when Boston College hosts New Haven in a nonconference men’s basketball game at Silvio O. Conte Forum. The Eagles (4-5) look to rebound from a tough 78-69 overtime loss to LSU on Wednesday. Boston College has dropped four of its last five games, with three of those losses coming by four points or fewer or in overtime. A bright spot in the LSU defeat was forward Jayden Hastings, who logged 31 minutes and contributed 9 points and 4 blocks. Hastings has been a key interior presence, posting a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds against Davidson on Nov. 21. The visiting Chargers (5-4) of New Haven enter on a three-game winning streak, though those victories came against lower-division opponents Mitchell, Salve Regina and VTSU Lyndon. Their performance against high-major competition has been starkly different, including losses to Seton Hall (68-45) and Penn State (87-43). Sophomore guard Teshaun Steele has emerged recently, averaging 10.3 points and 4.7 rebounds over the last three games. He nearly had a triple-double against Mitchell on Sunday, finishing with 11 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists in 24 minutes. This matchup presents a contrast in schedules. Boston College, a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference, has faced a steady diet of Division I opponents. New Haven, which plays in the Division II Northeast-10 Conference, has padded its record against non-DI teams but struggled mightily in its few DI tests. For Boston College, this game is a final tune-up before a road matchup with Massachusetts on Dec. 10 and the start of ACC play in January. The Eagles need to capitalize on their size and athleticism advantage to avoid a damaging home loss. New Haven views this as a major opportunity to secure a rare win over a power-conference program. The Chargers will rely on Steele and the trio that led them against Mitchell—Steele, Stefano Faloppa (14 points) and Andre Pasha (14 points)—to handle the step up in competition. Tipoff is set for Saturday afternoon. Boston College holds a significant historical advantage, having won all three prior meetings, the most recent a 79-55 victory in November 2025.
