PHOENIX (Interstat) — Two teams riding strong early-season momentum will meet when the Oklahoma Sooners face the Arizona State Sun Devils in a nonconference men’s basketball game Saturday at Grand Canyon University Arena. Both teams enter with identical 6-2 records. Oklahoma has won two straight, including an 86-68 road victory at Wake Forest on Tuesday. Mohamed Wague, Derrion Reid and Tae Davis each scored in double figures in that win, with Reid and Davis each posting 18 points. The Sooners also own a notable 75-74 road win at Marquette from late November. Arizona State looks to bounce back from an 88-75 home loss to Southern California on Nov. 26. Prior to that, the Sun Devils secured a signature 87-86 road victory at Texas. Key contributors in their recent games include Maurice Odum, who had 17 points and four assists against USC, and Massamba Diop. The matchup features two balanced squads seeking a resume-building win before diving into their respective conference schedules.
