WASHINGTON (Interstat) — American looks to continue its strong start at home when it hosts Maryland-Eastern Shore in a nonconference men’s basketball game Saturday at Bender Arena. The Eagles (6-4) are 5-1 on their home court this season, coming off a 75-73 victory over Drexel on Wednesday. Madden Collins led the way with 19 points in that win. The Hawks (4-7) have struggled on the road, going 2-6 away from home. They are looking to rebound from a 68-56 loss at East Carolina on Tuesday. In that game, Michael Teal and Dorion Staples each scored 10 points, with Teal adding six assists. Levi Beckwith contributed six points, three blocks and two assists. American’s offense has found a rhythm in its home victories, scoring 92 and 74 points in wins over Longwood and Maine, respectively, last week. Maryland-Eastern Shore’s season has been defined by volatility, featuring a double-overtime road win at Longwood but also several lopsided losses to high-major opponents. This is the first meeting between the programs since the 2018-19 season. Following this game, Maryland-Eastern Shore faces a tough stretch at Virginia and Virginia Tech, while American travels to VCU and Virginia later in December.
