ABILENE, Texas (Interstat) — New Mexico State looks to rebound from its first loss when it visits Abilene Christian in a nonconference men’s basketball game Saturday at Moody Coliseum. The Aggies (6-1) opened the season with six straight wins before falling 77-75 at South Alabama on Tuesday. Jayland Randall scored 21 points in the loss, while Elijah Elliott added 18 and Jemel Jones had 17. The Wildcats (6-3) are coming off a 71-63 road win at Pepperdine on Tuesday. Bradyn Hubbard led the way with 15 points, and Yaniel Rivera added 14. New Mexico State’s early success has been built on defense, holding opponents to an average of 61.7 points per game. Abilene Christian averages 72.2 points but allows 68.7. This is the first meeting between the programs since 2019. The Aggies will try to regain their defensive form on the road, while the Wildcats aim to protect their home court, where they are 4-1 this season.
