FORT WORTH, Texas (Interstat) — Two teams coming off quality nonconference wins meet Friday when the Notre Dame Fighting Irish visit the Texas Christian Horned Frogs at Dickies Arena. Notre Dame (6-3) arrives after a 76-71 home victory over Missouri on Tuesday, powered by a triple-double from guard Markus Burton (18 points, 10 assists). The Fighting Irish, however, are 1-2 in true road games this season. TCU (5-2) enters on a two-game win streak, including a 74-63 victory at Wisconsin last Friday. Forward David Punch (17 points) and guard Brock Harding (16 points, 5 assists) led the way for the Horned Frogs in that contest. The matchup features contrasting early-season schedules. Notre Dame’s three losses have come against currently ranked opponents Houston and Kansas, along with Ohio State. TCU’s two defeats include a narrow home loss to Michigan and a season-opening upset by New Orleans. Burton anchors the Irish offense, averaging a team-high 17.2 points and 5.4 assists. Jalen Haralson (13.6 points) and Cole Certa (11.1 points) provide additional scoring punch. TCU’s attack is more balanced, with five players averaging between 9.9 and 12.7 points per game, led by Punch. This is the final scheduled nonconference test for both before conference play begins next month. Notre Dame opens Atlantic Coast Conference action in January, while TCU will begin its Big 12 schedule. Tip-off is set for Friday, Dec. 5, in Fort Worth.
