JERSEY CITY, N.J. (Interstat) — The Canisius Golden Griffins visit the Saint Peter’s Peacocks on Friday in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference men’s basketball matchup at Yanitelli Center. Canisius (4-4) enters at .500, seeking consistency after a 71-53 home loss to Buffalo on Saturday. Mike Evbagharu led the Golden Griffins with 13 points in that defeat. Canisius has alternated wins and losses in its last six games, with victories coming against conference and mid-major opponents. Saint Peter’s (2-4) looks to halt a two-game slide, most recently an 87-61 home loss to Dartmouth. Brent Bland paced the Peacocks with 16 points and five rebounds in that contest. The Peacocks’ wins this season are over Fairleigh Dickinson and Massachusetts-Lowell, both at home. The game opens a stretch of MAAC play for both teams. Canisius has relied on a balanced attack, while Saint Peter’s will lean on Bland’s scoring and J’Quan Ewing’s presence on the boards after he grabbed eight rebounds against Dartmouth. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 5. Canisius travels to face Siena on Sunday, while Saint Peter’s hosts Niagara the same day.
