HIGH POINT, N.C. (Interstat) — The High Point Panthers look to rebound from a narrow loss when they host the struggling NJIT Highlanders in a nonconference men’s basketball game Friday at Qubein Arena. High Point (7-2) saw a four-game win streak snapped with an 86-84 home loss to Southern Illinois on Wednesday. Terry Anderson scored 21 points and Rob Martin added 20 in the defeat. The Panthers have been strong at home, winning five of six, with their only blemish being the recent two-point defeat. NJIT (3-6) seeks to end a five-game skid, all coming on the road. The Highlanders fell 73-55 at Eastern Michigan last Friday. Malachi Arrington and Sebastian Robinson each scored 11 points in the loss. NJIT’s last victory was a 93-81 home win over Fairleigh Dickinson on Nov. 15. The Panthers have featured a high-scoring offense, surpassing 90 points four times this season. Anderson leads the active roster, averaging 15.2 points per game. NJIT has been held under 75 points in six of its nine games and faces a challenging road stretch before its next home game on Dec. 10. Friday’s contest is the first of a two-game homestand for High Point before traveling to Appalachian State on Dec. 14. NJIT continues a stretch of eight straight road games.
