DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Interstat) — Two teams seeking a turnaround will meet Friday when Bethune-Cookman hosts South Carolina State in a nonconference men’s basketball game. The Wildcats (2-6) return to Moore Gymnasium after a four-game road trip that concluded with a 100-56 loss at Indiana on Saturday. Jakobi Heady led Bethune-Cookman in that defeat with 15 points and eight rebounds. The team’s last win was a 76-73 victory at Ohio on Nov. 19. The Bulldogs (0-8) are still searching for their first win after a 101-79 loss at Winthrop last Saturday. Noah Treadwell scored 17 points in that contest for South Carolina State, which has lost its games by an average margin of 19.5 points. Both teams have faced challenging early schedules. The Bulldogs’ eight losses have come against opponents with a combined record of 45-20, including power conference foes Missouri and Louisville. Bethune-Cookman’s defeats include road games against Auburn, Dayton, Miami (Fla.) and Indiana. Friday’s game represents one of the final opportunities for either squad to build momentum before a gauntlet of upcoming road games. South Carolina State visits Queens (N.C.) on Dec. 12, while Bethune-Cookman travels to Missouri on Dec. 14.
