HONOLULU (Interstat) — A key early-season Big West men’s basketball matchup tips off Thursday when the Hawaii Warriors host the UC Davis Aggies at the Stan Sheriff Center. Both teams enter with winning momentum. The Aggies (5-2) have won two straight, including a 77-56 victory over Louisiana-Lafayette on Nov. 24. Niko Rocak scored 16 points and Nils Cooper added 18 in that win. UC Davis also owns a road victory at Nevada this season. The Warriors (6-2) are coming off a dominant 92-55 win over North Dakota on Nov. 28, where Isaac Johnson, Isaiah Kerr and Dre Bullock all scored in double figures. Hawaii’s two losses came against Power Five opponent Arizona State and in a narrow one-point defeat at Oregon. This contest opens the conference schedule for both squads and could offer an early gauge of the league race. Hawaii has protected its home court, going 5-0 in Honolulu this season. UC Davis will look to counter with its own solid road form, having already secured two true road victories. The game is scheduled for a 9 p.m. HST tip-off on Thursday, Dec. 4.
